Job Description

Job PurposeTo provide a full maintenance and engineering service for low Voltage Systems and Electrical works and as a result of this ensuring that contractual obligations are met. Through feedback to appropriate managers, ensuring that resources are deployed in the most effective and timely manner. Assisting the company in ensuring a high standard of patient ‘experience’ from a Facilities Management perspective.This Job description is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities of a similar level and nature may be required from time to time.This Role will have the opportunity to develop into a HV & LV Appointed Person (AP)Main duties and responsibilities/ key results areas:

  1. To liaise effectively with department heads and medical staff at all levels
  2. To provide assistance to HV/LV authorised persons in effectively carrying out their duties
  3. To promote and instruct on the use of the Help Desk throughout the Organisation
  4. To manage effectively all electrical engineering and plant & equipment and electrical low voltage switch gear and distribution systems including BMS and control systems
  5. To produce effective detailed reports as required
  6. To carry out detailed surveys as required
  7. To have knowledge of the range of the statutory and Health and Safety responsibilities associated with engineering installations and Health and Service properties
  8. To maintain a professional knowledge of and compliance of relevant legislation for the project including fire, health and Safety and NHS initiatives and procedures
  9. To ensure compliance with Interserve policies and procedures and relevant legislation
RESOURCES
  • The post holder will not be a delegated account signatory or budget holder
  • The post holder will not be responsible for signing off invoices
  • The post holder will not have line management or supervisory responsibilities for staff
  • The post holder will not be required to deliver training in their role
  • The Person will not be required to be accountable for the requisition or the purchase of equipment
  • Communication
  • The post holder will be requires occasionally to participate in local meetings
  • The post holder will not be required to communicate in a language other than English
  • The Post holder will not be required to convey difficult, sensitive or complex information to groups where there may be resistance or barriers to understanding.
  • Autonomy
  • The post holder will be expected to make a decision without consulting their manager in matters regarding adjustment, control or maintenance of plant or equipment in urgent situations
  • The post holder will have regular contact with their line manager
  • Their work will be checked regularly in a daily to weekly basis
  • Environment
  • The post holder will be required to conduct their duties throughout the estate typically in engineering plant rooms, in ducts and on roofs
  • The work will involve working in potentially hazardous/unpleasant conditions – e.g. working in hot conditions, with substances, and occasional manual handling within the limits defined by assessment
  • The post holder may be required to concentrate on specific tasks for extended periods with minimal or no interruptions
  • The post holder will be required to deal with situations where there are a number of options and no clear guidance
  • Qualifications
  • City & Guilds electrical Level 3 or equivalent
  • Current edition IEE Regulations
  • Time served apprenticeship NVQ Level 3
  • HNC Electrical (desirable)
  • City & Guilds 2391 testing and inspection (desirable)
  • HV LV AP HTM (Desirable)
