Job Description

METROLOGY PPAP ENGINEERDUDLEYPERMANENT - IMMEDIATE START AVAILABLEAre you an experienced Metrology PPAP Engineer seeking a permanent position based in the Black Country If yes, we want to hear from you!Our client has seen enviable growth throughout the course of 2021 and that trend looks set to continue moving forward. With major development plans for the site anticipated this year, now has never been a better time to join them.Working as a Metrology PPAP engineer your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Reading 3rd angle geometric drawings interpreting datums, GDT and customer specifics as required.
  • Evaluating colour coded parts and prepare Appearance Approval Reports for submission to customer.
  • Ensuring direct quality responsibility elements of the APQP system are fully met and support the NPI teams throughout the project development and into manufacturing.
  • Reviewing / updating all quality documents in conjunction with fellow quality engineers to ensure they are accurate for the product and in line with IATF16949 guidelines to meet the customer needs. Examples of documents - control plan, Parts Quality Report(PQR), gauge instructions, capability data and generating R&R studies.
  • Using Mitutoyo 3 axis measuring machine "bridge type utilising both Renishaw probes and a non-contact laser measuring device (Faro Arm) linked to the 3-axis measuring machine. "3 axis machine type Model 191-294R Crysta-Apex - S9166 Coordinate measuringmachine"
  • Liaising with customers as required to discuss quality (PPAP/APQP) related matters.
The successful Metrology PPAP Engineer will be self-motivated, able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbal and written and feel comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the business.Candidates must have a proactive, investigative, problem solving and hands on approach to tasks; through high levels of analytical capability, you should be capable of working to your own initiatives, and competent in satisfying demanding deadlines whilst remainingcustomer focused.
  • Experience of working with 1st / 2nd tier customers
  • ISO/ IATF16949 knowledge and experience
  • Background Quality/Manufacturing environment Automotive Engineering
  • Knowledge of customer portals JLR, Lear, Perkins, Ford
  • ONC IQA Modules or MIQA
  • Job Related Skills SPC, C Plans, PPAP, Quality tools, Problem Solving, reading and working with drawings
  • APQP
  • Working knowledge of IMDS
  • CMM - Mitutoyo, Laser Faro Arm
