• Develop special product models and prints using sound design techniques to satisfy the needs of customers and manufacturing operations.

• This role is also responsible for maintaining and updating standard prints to current specifications, providing special detailed drawings and models to customers upon request, and performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and design analysis as required.

Key Accountabilities

• This role will provide a working models and drawings to operations to produce special products. They will interact continually with Application Engineering and operations to ensure that the design fits the customers needs while being able to be capablyproduced.
• Cost Reduction: The Design Engineer will look for opportunities through trends to be able to reduce the time required to produce special models.
• They will work with the Senior Design Development Team Manager to suggest and/or produce user-defined features and regenerable models as needed to improve efficiency in the department.
• Quality: The Design Engineer will strive to produce a quality model and drawing that provides all the required information for programming, manufacturing, and inspecting special product.
• They are responsible for checking each others work to make sure that special drawings are right the first time.
• Personnel: Work closely with Application Engineering and the Senior Design Development Team Manager to make recommendations for improvements within the department.
• They are responsible for ensuring that special drawings are up to date with the current best practices in design and manufacturing.

2. Maintain up-to-date CAD software knowledge
3. Recognize potentials for design flaws or manufacturing issues with product design

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting and Design Technology & Certificate of

completion in CAD

• Three years plus work experience in CAD
• German speaking and literate (sound ability to converse technically)
• Proficient knowledge and application of basic drafting concepts and principles
• Proficient knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
• Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Knowledge of FEA software (ANSYS or Creo Simulate preferred)

• Ability to mentor new Design Engineers

• Ability to recommend potential solutions to design feasibility problems

Expected Hours of Work and Travel

• Training and Inductions will be held at Allied HQ in USA and Wohlhaupter in Germany
