The roleWorking as part of a small melting team, the role of a Furnace Operative is essential within the Foundry. As the role is safety critical, we are only looking for experienced Furnace Operators at this time.Responsibilities include
  • Load furnace using tipper skips and overhead crane
  • Weigh up and then add trim additions
  • Slag off the furnace prior to tapping/pouring the metal
  • Operate the furnace using hydraulic controls
  • Monitor temperatures
  • Repair spouts as required during production
Ideal Candidate
  • Metal melting experience - ideally iron, but any metal and furnace type is acceptable
  • Basic understanding of maths
  • Overhead crane and FLT license would be ideal but not essential
  • A willingness to work hard and a positive attitude
  • The ability to work overtime on a regular basis, mainly during the week but occasional weekends
