Job Description

Female Care AssistantFull-Time (Part-time / Job Share Considered)Hours: 144 hours a month on a 4 week fixed rolling rotaPay: 10.50 per hourLocation: B69 areaShift: Days & Sleep NightsFootprints Care is seeking an outstanding female Care Assistant to support a wonderful young autistic lady in her own home and out in the community. Our client, (well call her Lisa) lives in supported living accommodation, with the aim of enabling her toretain her independence however, she does need significant support in her day-to-day life.Were a small team of 6 and were passionate about working together to provide the absolute best for Lisa by delivering exceptional care. This is a varied role in which our carers are involved in anything from personal and domestic care to accompanyingLisa to appointments and being involved in enrichment activities.We are looking for a warm, empathetic, and caring individual who is able to focus on Lisas wellbeing, putting her needs at the centre of all they do. You will have outstanding communication skills and will work well in a team and will be highly adaptable.What Will I Do

  • Assisting with personal careincluding showering, washing and dressing
  • Attending medical appointments, including GP and hospital appointments, dentists, opticians and personal care appointments such as trips to the hairdresser and podiatrist
  • Providing domestic care, including cooking healthy, balanced meals, washing up and maintaining the cleanliness of the home
  • Supporting with daily activities such as food and clothes shopping and pottering in the garden
  • Encouraging an active lifestyle; accompanying Lisa on daily walks and taking her swimming
  • Leisure activities, including day trips out, attending birthday and Christmas parties or events in the community and we try to take Lisa away on holiday once a year, too
  • Enrichment activities at homearts and crafts, playing music and instruments and any other suitable fun activities you can think of!
Essential skills & experience
  • Empathy, compassion, and a caring personality
  • Dependable and reliable as Lisa is happiest when in her routine
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable and resilience to deal with challenging behaviour
  • Full clean driving licence - We will provide you with access to a work vehicle
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a similar care related role is highly desirable but not essential as all training will be given
  • NVQ Level 2, or equivalent in healthcare would be desirable, but not essential
  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, Autism or challenging behaviour would be advantageous, however MAPA training will be given along with Medication administration
The role is offered preferably on a full-time basis and will involve working shifts on a 4 Week rolling rota. These shifts include day shifts (08:00-14:00/08:00-16:00), evening shifts (16:00-21:00) and sleep ins (21:00-08:00), all of which are paid on anhourly rate. You would be required to work two weekends in four. In total, this equates to 144 hours over the four weeks and all breaks are paid. Ideally, we are looking to fill this position on a full-time basis, however, for exceptional candidates we wouldconsider part-time or job share.This is not your average care role.Lisa isnt an average lady. She has challenges with her behaviour and can be unpredictable, so we are looking for people who are confident to deal with these events with a calm and caring approach. Each day will be different. Lisa loves to dance. And sing.And do arts and crafts! She loves a pamper session, long car journeys and holidays in a caravan. Shes a giggler, and when she smiles, she lights up the room.
