Job Description

Engineering / Technical ManagerDudley, West Midlandsc£45k-£50k+ neg dep expOur West Midlands based client design, develop, manufacture and service their niche sector product for supply throughout the world and have been established for almost 125 years. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Engineering / Technical Manager to complement their enthusiastic and professional team.Tasked with providing technical expertise, sound technical judgement and innovative ideas in the design, manufacture, commissioning and life cycle support of bespoke lifting solutions allied to the marine sector, the successful candidate will lead and develop a small, multi-disciplined engineering team based near Dudley and ensure the efficient conclusion of multiple projects through all engineering milestones, from concept to design, to manufacturing, testing and commissioning stages.In a BS EN ISO 9001:2000 accredited and audited environment, you will proactively ensure that company products, procedures and expertise align with all relevant statutory regulations, international standards and independent certification authorities, and will provide proactive technical support and guidance to other company departments, clients and on-site technicians as required.With the ability to assimilate complex technical specifications and to formulate technical responses and designs to satisfy customer needs, you will demonstrate clear leadership and vision of the technical function in all areas of the company to promote innovation, good working practices and efficient team working, promoting product excellence and effective procedures, and ensuring adherence to all issues associated with compliance, QA and H&S.As Engineering / Technical Manager you will be both logical and analytically minded and possess excellent communication skills at all levels, able to effectively communicate ideas orally, in written reports and in technical drawings as well as being able to compile detailed design reports and calculations for review by independent technical peers as required.To be considered for this varied and challenging Engineering / Technical Manager role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate a wide spectrum of engineering knowledge and experience (across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical disciplines) with specific emphasis in hands-on experience of structural fabrications and stress analysis in relation to both rigid and rotating machinery. You will draw on your wide personal experience and knowledge to make sound decisions in a time-critical manufacturing and fast-paced customer response environment.Realistically qualified to degree level or above in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline and demonstrating at least 5 years previous Engineering Manager, Senior Design or Senior Project Manager experience, you will be a confident hands-on designer with experience of both design and specification of hydraulic and electrical controls schemes and associated PLC control systems integration and a highly proficient user of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCad with familiarity of the relevant regulations for industrial machinery including the Machinery Directive and EMC directive, with knowledge of statutory regulations for marine safety equipment, e.g., SOLAS, LSA, MED, USCG / FED specs proving distinctly advantageous.Contact the Design Team at Premier Technical Recruitment on or email your cv in the strictest confidence to for further details.
