Job Description

Purpose of RoleWe have an exciting vacancy within our Commercial Lines Department for Sales Handler to join our team. A proven track record in insurance sales is essential. Commercial Insurance experience preferable. Being able to handle multiple types of scheme and openmarket products along with good underwriting skills are a necessity for this role.The role of the Sales Handler is to, managing new business enquiries, cross-sales and prospects for Commercial risks. Delivering new business income in line with company targets. The Sales Handler is the first point of contact for clients and is expectedto have the skills and knowledge to understand what actions are required to meet the expectations of all parties.Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and communicate sufficient information to demonstrate an understanding of the risk and to support the broking process in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow underwriting guides and procedures to protect the clients assets and safeguard insurers
  • Offer and present insurance solutions including insurance policies and other risk management solutions, with purpose to secure new business
  • Bind cover in accordance with client requests and in line with your authority limit. Confining advice and information to those areas in which you are deemed competent, otherwise seeking advice as appropriate.
  • Complete customer due diligence in line with company procedures on all potential new business you are responsible for
  • Build strong relationships with underwriters to promote trust in your underwriting and risk management
  • To ensure compliance with local procedures, customer service standards, scripts, timescales and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA
  • To attend shows and events where required to promote Footman James brand
Essential Criteria - must be clearly demonstrated on CV
  • Proven track record in a sales environment
  • Min 2 years insurance experience
Also Essential
  • Be able to understand and apply general insurance principals
  • Knowledge and understanding of product features, benefits, exclusions and application of warranties for the products you are selling
  • Able to tailor product offering to customer needs and demands
  • An understanding of the concept of risk and how variables can affect insurers coverage decision and claims settlement
  • Able to understand and follow regulatory processes and procedures
  • Able to work to work to targets to deliver business results
  • Able to make sound judgement based upon available information and reason, able to justify decisions to others
