Job Description

  • Opportunity for a Front-End leaning Software Engineer (with full-stack exposure) to play a key role as an early joiner in this AgriTech / ClimateTech start-up.
  • Help accelerate the adoption of sustainable and climate-friendly practices across the Agricultural sector.
KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • A significant level of experience (3-5+ years) in commercial full stack software development.
  • Happy working in a front-end weighted role.
  • High level of expertise in one or more front-end frameworks, whether this be React, Angular, etc... no singular language or framework is a must have, part of your role will be to influence the tech stack and languages used!
  • Open source enthusiast and advocate.
  • At home in a data centric environment.
  • The expertise and gravitas to take on a business-critical Software Engineering role of high responsibility and visibility, in an early stage start-up environment.
  • BONUS: Any sort of experience relating to Agriculture / AgriTech / Satellite Data / Geospatial... otherwise just possessing an interest in these domains and climate tech would be highly valued!
ROLE & COMPANY OVERVIEW:With a mission to accelerate the adoption of sustainable farming practices, and financially reward those who partake in such practices, this very early stage start-up has just secured significant funding and is therefore looking for early joiners to startshaping their Software Engineering & Data Science platforms and teams.Working in tandem with partners such as the European Space Agency, their technology will connect farmers and agricultural businesses, in order to create networks to encourage more climate-friendly practices across the AgriFood domain. Additionally, theyare looking to create platforms that will allow those partaking in sustainable practices to be able to tangibly demonstrate this, backed up by data, in order to unlock resources such as favourable financing, larger pool of customers and more.They are now seeking an experienced full-stack Software Engineer - somebody who can spearhead the process of developing software platforms from the ground up, including taking on decision making responsibility and influence over specifying tech stack andguiding the tech roadmap. These platforms will ultimately be used to help farmers make informed choices on an array of agricultural practices, relating to soil health, crop growth & reducing chemical fertiliser reliance.We are seeking somebody comfortable across the full-stack, but who would be happy in a role with a front-end leaning. With back-end tech stack largely in place (utilising the likes of Python and various cloud & infrastructure tools), the front-end is moreof a blank canvas and will give somebody the opportunity to influence tech direction. Expertise in a front-end framework will be required, but this could be React, Angular or anything else that can effectively get the job done, this will be down to you!This is an opportunity to occupy a role of high influence and autonomy, which will be core to the creation and development of solutions from the ground up. In future will come ample opportunities for further growth and leadership, as you play a key rolein a company looking to make a positive impact on our food systems and planet!
