Job Description

Our reputable client has over 100 years experience manufacturing and developing Quality Tools and Accessories. Based in Dronfield, they are lead manufacturers for a variety of industries such as Mining, Quarrying, Rock Drilling, Civil Engineering and ConstructionIndustries.They are looking to recruit a Metallurgist/Test Technician to join their hard-working team.Hours: (38.5 hours per week)Monday to Thursday: 07:30am - 16:00pmFriday: 07:30am - 13:30pmSalary:Starting Salary: £27,500 per annum depending on experienceDuties will include:Working occasionally in a hot metal working environment but predominantly heat treatment, Neutral Hardening and Carburising, the main purpose of the role will be to take samples and prepare for testing.

  • Working on the shop floor testing samples
  • Routine sample preparation including cleaning and polishing
  • Carrying out some mechanical testing / hardness testing and evaluating results
  • Inputting information onto database
  • Gaining an understanding of the companys process control systems
  • Generator and Gas Furnace analysis
  • Involved with internal trials
  • Creating warrant reports/post mortem examinations of products
Suitable candidates:
  • Materials Science/Metallurgy or Materials based qualification
  • Experience of metallurgy in a production environment preferred
  • Good problem solving skills, analytical approach with good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team and as well as on own initiative
  • Able to follow processes and procedures to remain compliant with standards specifications
  • Assisting with improvements to procedures and operating methods to increase efficiency
  • IT Literate including MS Word and Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
