Job Description

A Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter is required for my Droitwich based client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of heavy industry electro-mechanical products.The Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter will be responsible for building power units to engineering drawings and specifications. You will have the flexibility and the knowledge/experience to be able to attend customer sites to aid with installation when needed.Responsibilities of the Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter:

  • Build and wire electrical panels to engineering drawings
  • Be able to manufacture copper busbar from raw materials
  • Meet delivery deadlines (complete the job within allocated time requirements) and provide good quality products to the Test department.
  • Liaise with the engineering department & Test team with any queries that may occur during the build.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, working with your line manager to implement change.
  • Train and coach other colleagues sharing your skills, knowledge, and experience to aid their learning and development
  • Assist your line leader in identifying cost improvement opportunities by reducing hours and materials consumed.
  • Flexibility for occasional site work is required to support our service department and deliver our customers needs.
Typical tasks undertakenof the Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter:
  • Fitting out cabinets with required trunking system.
  • Fit noise insulation to the inner of the cabinet if required.
  • Install cables in to place before fitting electrical components.
  • Install hosing for water cooling of components.
  • Pre fit water manifolds and make any amendments before sending to paint department.
  • Install components in cabinet.
  • Wire components to the electrical schematic drawing.
  • Mechanical skills to fit premade busbars and then manufacture smaller busbars to suit the unit design.
  • Connect hosing to all components based on internal water schematic drawing.
  • Fit external manifolds if required and hose as necessary.
  • Work with the test engineer for any questions or corrections as necessary.
Experience and Skills of the Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter:
  • Electrical skills, knowledge, and experience is essential (a time served apprenticeship with an electrical engineering discipline at either C&G level 3 or NVQ level 3 and BTEC national or equivalent qualification)
  • Mechanical skills, knowledge and experience is advantageous as the role requires both elements.
  • PC Literate and able to read a variety of Engineering Drawings.
  • You must be motivated to work on your own or as part of the team.
  • Can do attitude to solving problems.
  • Reliable and consistent approach to work.
  • Be prepared to travel to customer sites within the UK and other countries. (Approximately 10% of working time)
