Job Description

Housing Support WorkerAn exciting position has become available for full time Housing Support Worker to join a friendly team based in Doncaster. The successful candidate will earn a salary of £19,346 progressing to £19,887 after 12 months and on satisfactory completion of a 9-month probationary period assessment. Further increases after 1 year of service £20,969 and after 2 years £22,063.The Housing Support Worker will provide high quality housing management and support services to clients in order to assist them in sustaining their tenancies, achieving their potential and working towards a crime free lifestyle and independent living.The post holder will be expected to travel locally on a regular basis. Therefore, a full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required. This position is based on 39 hours per week, working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 6pm.Role Requirements

  • Experience of providing a service to vulnerable groups
  • Experience of delivering supported housing services.
  • Experience of delivering services to clients’ housing and accommodation
  • In-depth and up to date knowledge of Welfare Benefits System.
  • Knowledge of Supporting People and role of statutory authorities
  • Experience in risk assessment and support planning
  • Understanding of the Judiciary System in the UK
  • Role Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Assist clients when moving in, or out of Target accommodation.
  • Assess the circumstances, aspirations and needs of each client in order to make a support plan that is relevant to the client and realistic in its achievement.
  • Act as clients’ keyworker offering advice and support to negotiated and agreed support planning to enable them to develop their skills for independent living.
  • Assist clients to maximise their income and to manage their personal budgets.
  • Support clients to understand their rights and responsibilities under their occupancy agreements.
  • Support and motivate clients encouraging them to achieve personal goals.
  • Carry out regular client risk assessment and ensure it is properly recorded and copied to relevant officers in the organisation.
  • Review support plans periodically and adapt them according to changing needs
  • Make sure clients pay the rent due to Target Housing as required by the occupancy agreement. Assist clients with their benefit claims where necessary.
  • Monitor clients’ handling of Target Housing property and consumption of gas & electricity.
  • Monitor clients’ compliance with their occupancy agreements and act to resolve noncompliance issues, informing line manager of serious breaches.
  • Monitor occupancy to ensure that properties have not been abandoned or damaged and take prompt action when it happens to avoid unnecessary costs to TH.
  • Where appropriate, help clients with budgeting. Negotiate with other bodies on behalf of the client on the repayment of arrears such as rent owed to the Local Authority Housing Department.
  • Liaise with the Probation Service and any other appropriate bodies to ensure that all are aware of relevant information.
  • Enable and support the client to deal with conflict and disputes amongst clients and between clients and neighbours.
  • Assist in the delivery and development of client activities.
  • Keep all records in order that the value of the tenant support service can be audited and comply with confidentiality policy.
  • Built links with external organisations, to maintain constructive working relations and to ensure client’s needs are met.
  • Participate in call out duties.
  • Participate in office duty arrangements.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues as directed.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions or activities as required.
