Job Description

Lead Practice EducatorWe would like to invite you to join our friendly team in Devon. Plymouth is a dynamic waterfront city within minutes of Dartmoor, one of the largest national parks in Britain. Plymouth is the gateway into Cornwall, has good transport links to the rest of the UK and Europe via road, rail and sea and is only an hour away from the international airport at Exeter.University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe employing more than 6,500 staff. As a tertiary referral centre we offer a wide range of clinical specialities to the population we serve. We provide a wide range of acute and general hospital services including oncology and radiotherapy, paediatrics, neurosciences and cardiothoracics. The emergency department is designated as a major trauma centre for the Peninsula. As a result, radiographers at Derriford undertake a very comprehensive range of examinations within their given area of practice; this makes it a very interesting and rewarding place to work. The imaging department takes student Radiographers from the University of Exeter and University of Plymouth, and is a training site for Radiologists based at the Peninsula Radiology Academy, close to the Hospital. If you agree that these values should be integral to your work, then University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has much to offer you.We currently have the following vacancy:General Imaging - Lead Practice EducatorAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Practice Educator to support training and education in our busy general imaging department. The General Imaging Department is looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered Radiographer with significant demonstrable experience in a learning and teaching in both postgraduate and undergraduate level to contribute to the training, education, supervision and mentoring of an increasing number of learners in our department.As Lead Practice Educator you will oversee a team of practice educators within the general imaging department responsible for the co-ordination and provision of the clinical education component for all learners within the general imaging department including: pre-registration radiography students; students participating in elective placements, apprentice radiographers, preceptee radiographers and the wider general radiographer workforce. This will involve the development and delivery of an annual training strategy to address training needs within the department and progression of clinical education.You will need to have great interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and deliver the specific training requirements that are needed.
