PLYMOUTH HOSPITALS NHS TRUSTCONSULTANT NEURO INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGISTPost: Consultant Neuro Interventional RadiologistMain Area: Neuro-RadiologyGrade: ConsultantHours: Full time, 10PAs per weekJob Ref: 216-9995-RADSite: Derriford Hospital, PlymouthSalary: £79,860 to 107,668 per annum depending on experience.Please apply via NHS Jobs, uploading your CVUniversity Hospitals Plymouth are pleased to announce that there is currently a vacancy for a full time position for neuro interventional radiology consultant as part of their long term strategy of increased services within their interventional department.There is currently a business case to support the development of four new Interventional Theatres at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (the Trust) to improve the provision of Interventional Radiology procedures, replace life expired and sub-standard facilities and comply with national guidance and recommendations. Following prioritisation of this project by the Devon Sustainability and Transformation Partnership, the Trust received confirmation in March 2018 that capital funding of £26.2 million had been awarded. The development proposed within this business case provides the opportunity to significantly improve the quality of services delivered to patients presenting to the Trust both now and in the future. The project is due to be completed in the summer of 2023.Services that we are looking to expand in the lead up to the completion of this project will include a 24/7 Mechanical Thrombectomy Service. The successful applicant will join the 4 incumbent neuroradiologist in providing a comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology service for the approximately 1.7 million populations of Devon and Cornwall.The successful applicant will work closely with the full range of neurological and neurosurgical specialties as well as a wide variety of other specialties including ENT, Ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery. There is an active Paediatrics department with an expanding neonatal unit. Our neuroradiology service has access to 5 1.5T MR scanners, and 6 multi-slice CT scanners (3 of which are 64-slice scanners). A new, flat-panel detector biplane neuroangiography suite has been recently installed. There are also plans in place for two new 3T MRI scanners to be commissioned by August 2020The successful candidates would support a 1 in 3 on-call rota, with prospective cover rising to a 1-5on call once vacancies’ have been filledUniversity Hospitals Plymouth is a major teaching hospital located on the outskirts of the city of Plymouth and is part of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.All posts are full time posts under the new Consultant Contract. Most of the regional specialist units are located in the Hospital, including Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery.
