Job Description

UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS PLYMOUTH NHS TRUSTDERRIFORD HOSPITALConsultant Specialist in Gynaecological OncologyGrade ConsultantContract Permanent Hours 10 PAs Job ref 216-9790-GYONSalary £82, 096 - £110, 683Interview date: 19th March 2021We are looking to appoint a third Consultant Specialist in Gynaecological Oncology at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, which provides care for the population of Plymouth, South Devon and East Cornwall. The Trust provides a fully integrated secondary care service to the local population with diagnostic imaging, histopathology, surgical, radio-therapeutic, chemotherapeutic and palliative care services for all gynaecological cancers. There are close links with a strong colorectal department. Together with Royal Cornwall Hospital we form the West Peninsula Gynaecological Cancer Service to a population of one million. UHP NHS Trust also provides tertiary cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, transplant, trauma, neonatal and plastic surgical services for the peninsula.The appointee will be able to document that they can perform radical gynaecological oncology procedures independently. They may also join in the emergency gynaecology on-call rota.The Plymouth Medical School provides ample opportunity for education and research. The first students graduated in 2009.Plymouth and surrounding districts comprise a population of 500,000. There is easy access to the coast and DartmoorNational Park with a favourable climate, excellent local schools, and a relaxed lifestyle.Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining Specialist registration at the time of the interview.
