The opportunity has become available to apply for the role of Maternity Matron for Inpatient Services.As a key member of the Clinical Management Team, you would be working under the professional direction of the Head of Midwifery and the Associate Chief Nursing Officer. As the Matron for Inpatient services, you will be working closely with the Matron for Outpatient and Community services and be responsible for the implementation of National and local Midwifery Strategy.This will mean delivering on the complex agenda as defined by the Matrons Handbook (2020) to include workforce management,finance and budgeting,education and development,patient flow,performance management and digital technology and research. One of your initial priorities within midwifery will be activating our recovery plan as we emerge from the pandemic and monitoring the performance from the national Continuity of Carer agenda following its implementation in October 2020.Adopting a highly visible and accessible approach for patients and staff, you will empower and develop staff to undertake a greater range of clinical activities in orderto improve patient care. You will provide professional leadership, advice and support to midwives and maternity support workers, acting as a clinical expert resource for all staff within Maternity.Responsible for managing midwifery teams, clinical leadership, infection prevention and control and standards of patient care, you will act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and demonstration of competent, accountable clinical practice and modelling of Trust values.You will be responsible for the performance management of key individuals within the maternity service and will through appropriate staff training and updating, ensure that midwifery care is evidence based and delivered by competent and confident practitioners according to Trust policies and procedures.Please find attached the job description for the post.
