PLYMOUTH HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Directorate of Healthcare Science & Technology POST: Clinical Dosimetrist (Healthcare Scientist Practitioner)LOCATION: RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICSSALARY: Band 5: £24,907 – £30,615 (2020/21) PER ANNUMHOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEKClinical Dosimetrist (Band 5). Healthcare Scientist Practitioner (Radiotherapy Physics)The Radiotherapy Physics team at Plymouth is looking for an experienced dosimetrist or Therapeutic Radiographer with experience in Treatment planning and Mould room to join the specialist team.A major part of the work involves routine Mould room provision and advanced treatment planning, such as IMRT, VMAT, SABR, 4DCT, and IGRT. The department provides specialist service for Stereotactic radiotherapy planning (SRS/T & SABR), and Brachytherapy and the successful candidate will have opportunity to be involved in service provision and development.The Radiotherapy Department is equipped with three Varian linacs (Truebeam & Clinac ix), all with OBI, RapidArc and gating facilities. We also have a Novalis with ExacTrac® Image-Guided radiotherapy for stereotactic treatment (intracranial SRS and SRT). HDR Brachytherapy (including MRI guided) is delivered on a Varian GammaMed unit.Pre-treatment imaging is carried out on the department’s widebore CT scanner (replaced in January 2020) and there is also access to MR and PET-CT in the hospital.Treatment Planning is carried out on the Eclipse Treatment Planning system (V15.6), with a high proportion of patient treatment sites having RapidArc techniques as standard.In October 2019 the department embarked on a workflow optimisation project with Varian to become a paper light/paperless, and treated its first Lung SABR case with the recently commissioned 10FFF.Radiotherapy Physics is part of the Directorate of Healthcare Science & Technology and is located within the Plymouth Oncology Centre at Derriford Hospital.The successful clinical dosimetrist will carry out the full range of treatment planning techniques and will routinely take part in mould room activities.
