Job Description

The neurophysiology department has a vacancy for a band 7 advanced Clinical Physiologist or Healthcare Scientist with experience in performing and reporting a wide range of investigations.The department provides services to a wide range of patients across out- patient and in-patient settings with referrals coming from across the southwest peninsula. The department is well established, performing a wide range of specialised and highly specialist investigations on adults and children including:

  • Video-EEG on both adults and children
  • Sleep EEGs: sleep deprived (adults) and melatonin sleep induced (children)
  • Ambulatory EEG and ambulatory EEG with video (adults and children)
  • Polysomnography and multiple sleep latency tests (adults)
  • Actigraphy
  • Physiologist led nerve conduction studies (adults)
  • Evoked potentials: VEP, SSEP, BSEP, CMCT (adults)
  • SSEPs on ICU
  • Electroretinography (adults and children)
  • As a team we are always looking to expand our expertise in order to meet the needs of our users and the successful candidate will share a desire to grow and improve the service.The team are friendly, enthusiastic and committed to providing the highest quality care, working closely with our colleagues across the Trust including; ophthalmology, neurology, intensive care, paediatrics and neo-natal ICU. There is a focus on the development of individuals as well as team working and supporting each other.The Trust is a teaching hospital and the department contributes to the education of physiologists as well as medical students, junior doctors and healthcare scientists.The candidate may be appointed as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner (band 6) initially, if not all components of the framework are fulfilled at time of appointment. The candidate will then progress to band 7 once all components are fulfilled. This is expected within 1 year following appointment.Please note this role will be band 7(Annex 21).Plymouth is a growing university city that has the beauty of Dartmoor and fabulous coastline within easy reach.***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and At Risk status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
