Job Description

IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor - ethnic minority victims) Derbyshire £23,694Our client is looking for an IDVA to join their team. You will provide short to medium term support to high-risk victims of domestic abuse. Their safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything you do, so your support will empower survivors to understandand overcome their current situation, allowing them to move forward and regain control of their lives.Job requirements:

  • Providing short or medium term support to high risk domestic abuse victims referred by the local Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
  • Working alongside external agencies including local police, health professionals, child protection, housing practitioners, probation workers and other voluntary and statutory specialists
  • Provide access to services and support organisations to help customers achieve their goals
  • Work with customers to complete tailored safety and support plans whilst respecting their autonomy and rights to make their own decisions.
  • Provide crisis intervention support and work effectively with partner agencies to support customers to live safe from further abuse.
  • Prioritise managing and reducing risk to victims and their families
  • Manage multiple caseloads and prioritise cases according to the level of risk and maintain and update records
What theyre looking for:
  • Someone with a genuine understanding of relationship abuse, who can help to address it from all angles and empower survivors to overcome their past towards a more confident future
  • Experience of supporting adults with complex needs such as relationship abuse and mental health
  • Completed, working towards or willing to complete the SafeLives IDVA qualification
  • A strong understanding of the criminal and civil law process
  • Great communication skills and someone who is able to build a rapport with customers
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the customer
  • Someone who can effectively prioritise their work
  • Enhanced DBS check
