Job Description

** Newly created Human Resources Director role **Macildowie Executive Search are proud to have been retained by a very reputable privately-owned manufacturing business in south Derbyshire as they seek to appoint a new Human Resources Director.Part of the excitement here is that this role has been newly-created as a result of the company ticking through growth milestones in terms of revenue and headcount. Consequently, this role will mean the successful candidate will be the principle creatorand custodian of the people strategy on the Board. Supported by an high-performing team including an HR Manager and several HRBPs, this role is intended to help develop the capability of those individuals whilst widening the influence of HR across the businessto drive overall productivity and performance. These blank-canvas roles are few and far between, so this really is a superb opportunity for someone motivated by the chance to showcase HR as a facilitator of positive business outcomes.A bit about the business. This organisation has been established for a number of decades and operates across a number of sites in the UK, including England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the sites has a Managing Director, and each have their own peopleagendas - supported currently by the HRBPs. As the business grows, there are more opportunities to create synergies across the business from a people perspective but until now, there just hasnt been the capability to make that happen. Hence the requirementfor this Human Resources Director. Here is what the client needs from a technical perspective:

  • Experience as a Human Resources Director or equivalent (essential)
  • An individual with a strong manufacturing background (essential)
  • Multi-site and ideally multi-country experience (preferred)
  • Experience creating and executing a successful 3-5 year people strategy (essential)
  • Success stories in helping identify and create rising stars in the business (preferred)
  • Proven track record in delivering success in talent management i.e. talent acquisition, retention and performance management (essential)
  • Experience in delivering best-in-class HR Board-reporting (preferred)
From a competency perspective, the client seeks an individual who:
  • Can evidence an ability to win hearts and minds quickly
  • Relishes change and the associated dynamism in the workflow
  • Enjoys solving problems
  • Is comfortable giving appropriate challenge to the Board
  • Passionately enjoys creating a high performance culture based on trust, understanding and shared goals
Some essentials prospective candidates will need to be able to commit to:
  • National travel (inc an overnight stay in Northern Ireland once every other week)
  • Being a manufacturing business, the workplace is primarily on-site (some hybrid working possible)
  • Prospective candidates will therefore need to be able to commute daily to South Derbyshire
To recap, this is an HRD role that will be the custodian of the full people strategy from talent management, to health & safety, EVP, reward, training etc. It needs a passionate generalist who has experience driving engagement and performance in a manufacturingsetting. There is so much going for this business too. The Board are an absolute joy. They care deeply about their people and are firm believers in the importance of a strong HR capability. They seek appropriate challenge and have an appetite to create a best-in-classHR function as they know it will create positive outcomes for the business and employees. The need an HRD as the conduit for all of this, and that individual is needed yesterday!Soif you like what you have read and tick the appropriate boxes, then please apply without delay.Macildowie is a specialist recruitment consultancy with a rich history of enhancing the careers of professionals across the Midlands and the Northern Home Counties.
