Our client, a technology and product development consultancy based in Derby, is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join their team on a temporary basis. As a temporary Laboratory Technician, you will contribute and work as a key team member; you will design and build test rigs, assemble prototypes, and run experiments. You will be involved in planning, executing and writing up experiments in collaboration with other project team members.Your role will be to perform analysis, allocated tests and daily quality control checks within our client’s laboratories. You will be working closely with engineers and scientists, ensuring the facility is used efficiently and safely, as well as advising on good experimental practice when required. Experience in identifying, understanding and managing potential lab hazards is important, including hazardous chemicals, drugs, compressed gasses, cryogens, electrical hazards etc. Experience in a wet chemistry lab or in labs that have implemented GLP or ISO13485 procedures is hugely desirable.Candidates will ideally be qualified to HND level and/or BTEC, OND or similar in a technical discipline, or have a degree in a related subject. It is desirable for candidates to have demonstrative experience producing an experimental plan, taking accurate experimental recordings and writing high quality experimental reports. The ideal candidate will have the ability to assemble small prototype products and will have experience in building test rigs. Our client is looking for a candidate who has the ability and willingness to work closely with engineers, scientists, and designers in a fast-paced environment; taking pride in their work both in terms of accuracy and quality. Candidates must be able to work with tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of output. Computer literacy is essential and candidates must have a positive attitude towards working in teams and must be eager to learn new methods and techniques, demonstrating a flexible approach to work.
