Job Description

Strategic Payroll ManagerDerby - HybridCompetitive Salary1-1 Recruitment have an excellent opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join our client, a leading supplier of healthcare products and services.This is a strategic, hands-off role. Reporting into the Financial Controller, youll have a birds eye view of the department and will be making strategic changes to streamline processes and systems and developing teams, thereby giving the managers of theday-to-day payroll operations the tools they need to lead.Continuous improvement will be an important element of this role. You will be required to independently address payroll issues and implement solutions and initiatives, while also applying judgement and critical thinking to know when to engage more SeniorFinance Leaders or other stakeholders to aid in resolving complex or sensitive issues.Main Responsibilities include:

  • Drive the operational delivery of weekly and monthly end to end Payroll services within a complex business with multiple Terms & Conditions.
  • Creation of Payroll Service Standards and measurable KPIs
  • Manage a Payroll administration team to deliver payroll products for all companies within the group.
  • Completion of Statutory Reporting
  • Management of Pension Administration within the payroll system
  • Support all team members with clearly defined capability and development plans
  • Integrating the payroll of any future company acquisitions
  • Audit and reconcile payroll registers and monitoring of a Payroll system
  • Driving efficiencies within the payroll department
  • Ensure all processes are fit for purpose with robust controls in place and compliance with all internal policy and external regulations. Escalate risks and issues to Financial Controller.
  • Critically review and analyse current payroll processes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Formal Payroll Management Qualification
  • Understanding and experience of Public Sector Payroll - preferably NHS / AFC Contracts
  • Demonstrable Payroll Project Management Experience - system and process implementation, payroll onboarding, TUPE etc
  • Understanding and experience of TUPE transitions and impact on payroll and payroll systems
  • Payroll Systems configuration and Data Reporting experience
  • Management of Pension Administration within payroll function
  • Up to date UK & Irish Payroll legislative knowledge
  • Adaptability, resilience & persistence with a keen desire to support change & drive improvement
  • Leadership/People Management experience
  • Proven track record in building trusted relationships, both internal and external
  • Excellent performance management skills
