Job Description

Solutions Design and Applications Engineer to £60k East Midlands (Commutable from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and surrounding area)Our client has been established for more than 20 years and are recognised as market leaders in the provision of bespoke innovative materials handling and automation solutions to a diverse range of clients and industry sectors throughout the UK, and as aresult of continued success and an ongoing programme of exciting strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Solutions Design and Applications Engineer to complement their dynamic and professional team.Working as part of the Sales team and ideally located in the Derby / Nottingham . Leicester area, the successful candidate will thrive within a technology focussed business environment and will be responsible for driving the mechatronic design of conceptsand solutions across many industries including Parcel, Ecommerce, Manufacturing & Robotics, using experience gained in a previous applications environment to work closely with clients and understand their needs before turning these into innovative solutionsand following projects through to handover.Core responsibilities for this varied and challenging Solutions Design and Applications Engineer role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Using AutoCAD and Solidworks to develop mechatronic layouts and present them to the project team and clients
  • Undertaking throughput and cycle time calculations and be able to specify appropriate equipment to meet the project requirements
  • Being responsible for equipment costings from both in-house and external suppliers
  • Reviewing Client operational processes and developing material flow diagrams
  • Liaising with R&D, Sales and Project teams to ensure that projects and processes are executed to the highest quality
To be considered for this unique and genuinely exceptional Solutions Design and Applications Engineer opportunity, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will realistically be qualified to at least degree level or above in a relevant engineering disciplineand ideally demonstrate previous experience gained within a material handling systems design environment or have completed an apprenticeship in a similar discipline, with strong skills in the MS suite of applications and a high level of proficiency in theuse of both AutoCAD and Solidworks packages.You will possess excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels, with experience of logistics and supply chain solutions advantageous, and also French speaking candidates or those with Robotics experience will also be favourably considered.In return, an attractive remuneration and benefits package and genuine scope to progress within a structured and dynamic environment are available for suitably motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individuals.Contact the Design Team at Premier Technical Recruitment on or email your cv in confidence to for further details.
