Summary This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ranger to further your career. Working in 830 acres of historic parkland and 3 satellite properties, no two days are the same.Working with an enthusiastic team youll lead the day to day delivery of habitat management works across the portfolio.Ambitious and driven, youll be looking at ways we can improve management in the future. Youll be outdoors working with machinery and hand tools, training volunteers and assistant rangers What its like to work here A large historic wood pasture, within a landscaped parkland, Kedleston offers a green lung to the city of Derby.Hundreds of veteran trees offer an oasis for wildlife and tranquillity for people, the babbling watercourses with weirs and bridges create space for wildlife.With this as your office, youll lead the day to day countryside management, protecting the veteran trees, securing the future of our white clawed crayfish population, finding niches for wildlife to thrive.Youll be part of a skilled and capable team, and be the voice of the Ranger team and conservation. What youll be doing Kedleston is a property with growing visitor numbers and ambitious plans for the future, youll help deliver the planning and creation of a parkland plan to lead the property into Environmental Land Management scheme as it becomes available.Day to day youll be leading a small but experienced team of rangers and volunteers to deliver our current Higher Level Stewardship and Countryside Stewardship agreements, this includes protecting veteran trees, fencing, tree works and grassland management.Youll be protecting, maintaining and improving infrastructure, including footpaths, troughs, sluices, pipework, benches and bridges. Youll be helping develop our future parkland plan and partnership working to increase the value of conservation throughoutDerby.With a drive to engage with new and more local audience youll help develop a partnership with other organisations and neighbours to have an impact beyond our boundary, creating greener and more accessible sites in and around Derby.Its fast paced with opportunities to further your career, weighing up various site uses and helping develop ways to improve.
