Job Description

As part of the Prosecutions Team your main role will be to prepare remand files for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Courts. Other duties may include building offences, generating Postal Requisitions, preparing Antecedent historiesand undertaking any clerical duties in relation to case queries, additional evidential requests and obtaining court results.SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To gather and process information accurately whilst complying with time constraints, quality standards, data protection and information security requirements.
  • To communicate and interact within and outside the Department with colleagues, operational officers and other Criminal Justice agencies such as the CPS and the Courts service
  • To deal with telephone queries from members of the public, victims and defendants.
  • To identify problems, investigate, record and disseminate information in relation to ongoing and finalised cases.
  • To carry out other tasks as instructed by Prosecutions Team Supervisor.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • GCSE English Language Grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to check information for content and accuracy.
  • Experience of producing written correspondence to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experience in researching a variety of databases, gathering, analysing and managing data with the ability to compile and present data as and when required.
  • Ability to plan, manage and prioritise own workload to achieve aims and objectives within agreed timescales.
  • Self-motivated - must be able to work both alone and as a part of a team and to understand the dynamics and challenges this may bring within a busy environment.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and the partners with it.
  • Knowledge of the legal process in relation to court procedures.
