Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Principal Information Governance Officer to address the implications for the flow of personal data in the ne Brexit environment for one of our local government clients based in Derby.The Principal Information Governance Officer will undertake tasks which will include a review of current guidance from Central Government (specific guidance for local government from the MHCLG attached), the ICO and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) relation to Brexit.They will work with departments to identify international data flows and implement legal requirements such as standard contractual clauses.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • An extensive and in-depth knowledge of DPA legislation
  • Hold a legal degree and/or data protection qualification.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills for the development of policies, procedures, communications, training courses, report writing and self-assessment audits
  • Ability to understand and carefully analyse complex information and adjudicate on its best outcome for the Council so as to ensure legislative compliance
  • Knowledge of and understanding of the workings of the Information Commissioners Office in terms of its role, the sanctions it can apply etc.
  • Experience of advising senior officers on information governance related issues
  • Experience of reviewing and drafting information governance related policies
  • Experience of managing and implementing projects working to deadlines
