Job Description

Ingeus Personal Wellbeing Advisors provide intensive support to the needs of 18+ Male Service Users on community orders and post-release licences as part of the community Probation system on one-to-one basis and in group settings dependent on the needs identifiedby an initial assessment.Recruiting for a full-time Personal Wellbeing Advisor, to work across offices covering Derbyshire.Duties;

  • Hold the professional relationship with the Responsible Probation Officer (RO) to support Service Users (SU) through one-to-one and group interventions.
  • Proactively manage a caseload of Service Users in line with the information contained within the Referral provided by the RO and maintain operational liaison with RO to manage casework requirements.
  • Conduct an initial assessment with all referred Service Users to assess the appropriate level of support required for their personal wellbeing journey.
  • Prepare and agree individual action plans, following initial assessment, and regularly review progress with the SU.
  • Deliver the suite of Personal Wellbeing workshops to individuals and/or groups of Service Users to meet identified need(s), eg, Life Styles and Associates, Social Inclusion, Emotional Wellbeing and Family and Significant Others, to a high-quality standard.
  • Coach, support and prepare Service Users and provide a supported handover to education, training and employment, mental health, substance misuse, accommodation and other relevant services and support to complete applications for complementary services andcommunity resources, eg, leisure, sports, community activities, as appropriate to individual need(s).
  • Work alongside integrated specialist support from partners Change Grow Live (CGL) and PACT.
  • Make appropriate referrals, including advocacy with external statutory and VCS bodies, wellbeing providers & complementary services, to meet identified personal wellbeing needs of SU, as appropriate.
  • Deliver in a variety of venues including Ingeus community venues, probation offices across Derbyshire
  • Develop effective relationships with Probation and all relevant agencies; be aware of referral routes and actively promote good partnerships and effective joint working.
  • Working closely with the RO contribute to/provide evidence for assessment, sentence/risk management plans and reviews.
  • Be alert and responsive to behaviour, information or changes which could indicate a change in risk of serious harm.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour (including Unacceptable Behaviour) in order to de-escalate tension, to enable Service User to manage strong feelings and to ensure their own safety and that of others.
  • Undertake any other duties which fall reasonably within the nature, grade and responsibilities of the post.
  • Support Service Users to engage with mainstream services to provide ongoing support beyond CRS.
Essential;
  • Experience of working successfully with challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused.
  • A knowledge and understanding of providing support, advice and advocacy to vulnerable clients and the ability to communicate this knowledge in a variety of ways.
  • The ability to deliver short and tailored interventions to address barriers within a given timeframe
Desirable;
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and legislation in relation to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
  • Understanding employer engagement practices and knowledge of the local labour market.
  • Knowledge of national and local initiatives in relation to learning skills and employment.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment and developing partnerships
  • Ability to drive and own a car as travel will be required
  • ICT literate
