Page Group are delighted to be working exclusively with a Public Sector and Government Organisation based in central Derby, in their search for a permanent Payroll and Pensions Manager. The successful candidate can expect to be welcomed into an already well established team who invests in their staffto maintain growth individually and for the company.DescriptionThe primary responsibility of the Payroll and Pensions Manager is to manage the Payroll and Pensions service, ensuring that all statutory returns and payments are completed in a timely manner. Additionally, the Payroll and Pensions Manager will be requiredto develop and improve the service in order to drive greater efficiencys in processes and procedures. More specifically, the Payroll and Pensions Manager will be required to:

  • Ensure that robust payroll processes and procedures are in place in order to minimise the risk of over payments and where they do occur to ensure that they are recovered quickly.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all statutory requirements in relation to Payroll and Pensions are met, avoiding the need for manual intervention at financial year-end.
  • Take responsibility for complex payroll or pension related issues and make sure they are resolved quickly.
  • To manage and monitor the pensions workload agreed within service level agreements with external stakeholders and to escalate any concerns as appropriate.
  • Line manage, appraise and set objectives for junior members if staff and monitor their performance against them.
ProfileThe successful candidate will:
  • Have experience working in a similar function
  • Specialist knowledge of computerised HR/payroll systems
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll processing
  • Experience supervising/ management experience
  • In depth knowledge of employment practises and statutory legislation for Payroll & Pensions and Employment Law.
  • Working knowledge of the Data Protection Act
  • Good analytical thinking and attention to detail
Job OfferThe candidate can expect a competitive banded salary starting at £32,306 going up to £39,000 + 27 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) + generous employer pension contribution of 20%+ immediate start + permanent position + supportive, progressiveworking environment + free, on site parking + flexible working and career breaks + family and childcare support + health and well-being support
