Job Description

The worlds energy infrastructure is experiencing a rapid transformation with global efforts being made to reduce CO2 emissions to help fight climate change. Were working with a GreenTech company that has created a smart energy application to streamline themanagement of solar energy. This process has historically been managed manually, which is time-consuming and often leads to inaccuracies and inconsistencies in data collection and analysis. Their pioneering product creates a more efficient and user-friendlysolution that automates the management of solar energy, making it easier for businesses and individual households to use.Due to growth and success which has seen them expand into new markets they are now looking to recruit a UK-based Network Manager as they launch their new application.What skills will you need:
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and experience with cloud-based solutions such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies and software such as VMWare, Hyper-V and others.
  • High level of knowledge around network security measures and protocols such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and VPN to protect the network and data.
  • Ability to monitor and analyse the network performance, detect and troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
  • Previous experience configuring routers and switches, and knowledge of routing protocols.
  • Wireless network technologies and experience configuring wireless access points.
  • Some knowledge of IoT concepts, devices and networks.
Bonus points for:
  • Any previous experience in the GreenTech/Energy/Solar/Renewables industry.
  • Youve worked on networks that span multiple regions.
What youll be doing:As the Network Manager, you will design, implement and maintain the network infrastructure for the smart energy application. The company uses an internal cloud system which youll be fully trained on, but the fundamentals of public cloud-based solutions (AWS,Azure, GCP) will be transferrable.Youll be responsible for configuring and optimising network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and others), and monitoring and analysing network performance to ensure maximum availability and reliability. Some of the other projects youll get involved withwill include implementing and maintaining network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and access controls. Youll also troubleshoot and resolve network issues like connectivity problems, hardware failures and software bugs.Collaboration will be key, and youll work alongside others like the software developer team to design and implement network interfaces for the renewable energy project.As its a greenfield project, particularly in the early days, there will be a big focus for this role will be around strategy and planning so youll be someone who is happy to get stuck in, conducting research and testing and evaluating new network technologiesand tools that could improve performance and efficiency. Youll have the freedom to suggest and implement your ideas, and the feel-good factor of knowing your efforts are supporting a purpose-driven project.What youll get in return for your talents:Youll receive a base salary of between £62k - £72k plus there is a profit share scheme and bonus programme.
