An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Information Governance Officer to join a hardworking team within a Public Sector Body in the Derbyshire area. An Information Governance Officer is needed on a temporary basis to address the implications for the flow of personal data in the event of a No Deal Brexit; Brexit with a Deal but no Adequacy Decision from the EU.Key duties of a Principal Information Governance Officer-·Main tasks will include a review of current guidance from Central Government, the ICO and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) relation to Brexit·Work with different departments to identify international data flows and implement legal requirements such as standard contractual clauses·Implement, maintain and monitor compliance of information governance related strategies, policies and procedures to make sure they meet legal and statutory obligations·Take the lead on providing advice, training and support in relation to the Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations, Opendata/Transparency for all levels of employees, Councillors and external Stakeholders to make sure they are aware of and know how to recognise and fulfil with their legal responsibilities·Work with the Data Protection Officer and Deputy Data Protection Officer to manage the relationship between the Information Commissioners Office and the Council to make sure statutory obligations are metWhat you need to be a successful Principal Information Governance Officer-·An extensive and in-depth knowledge of Data Protection Act legislation·Understand and carefully analyse complex information and adjudicate on its best outcome to ensure legislative compliance·Working knowledge of the workings of the Information Commissioners Office in terms of its role, the sanctions it can apply etc·Experience of reviewing and drafting information governance related policies·Worked within an Information Governance Officer role with the Public SectorWhat you will get in return-·Discount Schemes·Flexible working is offered·Constant training and progression opportunities are offered·Cycle2work scheme·Childcare PlusTo apply for the Principal Information Governance role or to find out more Information please contact Lauren Gilligan on
