Job Description

Head of Organisational Design & EffectivenessFull time, Permanent£57,427 to £71,784 per annumDerby, HybridPublic SectorBurman are delighted to be supporting a prestigious public sector client appoint a Head of Organisational Design & Effectiveness. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimising the structure, processes, and culture of this institution.This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of organisational dynamics, change management principles, and a passion for driving continuous improvement within a complex organisation.Organisational Design

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance the organisational structure of the university. This includes assessing current structures, identifying areas for improvement, and designing new frameworks that align with the institutionsmission, vision, and goals.
Change Management
  • Drive organisational change by providing expert guidance and support to leaders, departments, and teams. Develop change management plans, communication strategies, and training programs to ensure successful adoption of new processes, technologies, and waysof working.
Performance Improvement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to identify opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness. Implement performance improvement initiatives, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), and track progress towardsgoals.
Talent Management
  • Partner with HR and other relevant departments to develop talent management strategies that support organisational objectives. Advise on recruitment, retention, succession planning, and professional development initiatives to build a high-performing workforce.
Culture Development
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Develop strategies to reinforce core values, strengthen employee engagement, and address cultural barriers to change.
Data Analysis
  • Utilise data-driven insights to inform decision-making and measure the impact of organizational design and effectiveness initiatives. Analyse key metrics, trends, and feedback to identify areas of improvement and drive evidence-based solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the university, including senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students. Collaborate closely with academic and administrative departments to understand their needs, priorities, and challenges.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Provide visionary leadership to the Organisational Design & Effectiveness team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Masters or advanced degree in Organisational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in organisational design, change management, and performance improvement within the higher education sector or a similar complex environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action plans and drive results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
