Derbyshire Fire and Rescue are looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team in Derby.Job Title: Financial AccountantSalary: Up to £37,849 per annum* (Career Progression Criteria Applies)The salary includes a market supplement. Both the salary and job description will be subject to annual review (original salary £29,636 - £33,799 per annum)Location: Ripley Headquarters – Butterley HallJob Type: 37 Hours per week (Applications accepted for job share at 18.5 hours per role)Financial Accountant - The Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, competent individual to join the Corporate Finance Team. This is an interesting and demanding role which is open to part qualified applicants. Significant Public Sector experience in an accountancy environment and the ability to demonstrate a strong level of practical technical accounting expertise are essential. The Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in the closing of the Authority’s accounts and in the production of key accounting statements.Reporting to the Head of Accountancy, you will assist in the provision of an efficient and effective accounting service, in particular you will be responsible for closedown related work, revenue budget monitoring and setting, and providing pension data.DFRS is keen to enhance its already substantial partnership and collaborative working, with, for example, Derbyshire Constabulary, East Midlands Ambulance Service, billing authorities and other Fire and Rescue Services. You will be involved with the costing of collaborative projects to inform strategic decision making.Financial Accountant - Experience:You will will have excellent communication skills, being able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and non-financial managers, and enjoy working as part of a small team as well as on your own initiative.You will be required to study for CIPFA or another appropriate qualification if not already held. Study support will be considered at time of offer.Financial Accountant - Benefits and Hours:The normal working week is 37 hours however you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours.
