Job Description

A UK based role suitable for a candidate who can spend time across sites located in The Midlands as need be, with home working offered. This role reports into Legal and Compliance Director and is responsible for developing, improving, and enforcing policiesand procedures covering the regulation of international trade.Client DetailsThis EU Trade Compliance Manager role can be based in Derby, Crewe or anywhere in the Midlands (or UK for those more open to taking on additional travel).The company recruiting is an international organisation operating in the manufacturing/ aerospace industry, the company manufactures gas turbine engines. This EU Trade Compliance roles supports UK, France, Holland and Thailand. It is a senior position, reportingto the Deputy General Counsel and the Director of Trade Compliance who is based in the US. It is a stand alone role, supporting operations within the regions listed. Some travel to sites will be involved, and the successful candidate can split time betweenhome working and required visits to offices/ sites.DescriptionThis EU Trade Compliance Manager role can be based in Derby, Crewe or anywhere in the Midlands (or UK for those more open to taking on additional travel), it involves:This role will assume hands on responsibility for trade compliance, UK and EU operations. Candidate shall aid in developing, improving, and enforcing policies and procedures covering the regulation of international trade, including export control, Customsand import procedures. This position will work with various global functional teams to identify, assess and develop action plans with respect to international trade compliance, cost reduction and standardization. The position reports directly to Deputy GeneralCounsel / Director, Global Trade Compliance in the US.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continued development and implementation of a global trade compliance program, including the development and maintenance of operational processes and controls around export activities of non-U.S. facilities, including advising various business teams oncompany policies and procedures, customs rules, regulations and procedures, customs classifications (HTS) and worldwide equivalents, Anti-Money Laundering, sanctions programs, UK Bribery Act, Modern Slavery and worldwide equivalents, insider threats, and exportlicensing requirements
  • Act as liaison between the Legal Department and facility export administrators
  • Identify, communicate and translate compliance best practices across facilities
  • Define and conduct trade compliance audits and investigations and ensure corrective action processes are in place to comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Design tools and performance reports to provide awareness and measure effectiveness of export controls and supply chain security compliance programs (AEO).
  • For exports, determine jurisdiction, licensing end use and licensing requirements (if applicable) based upon the EU Dual Use Regulation, UK Military List and worldwide equivalents
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC sanctions programs). If an export license is required, prepare license applicationfor filing (including OGELS, SIELS and worldwide equivalents in various EU countries), manage the application process and track and audit usage of such licenses.
  • Develop and deliver customized export controls, inward processing (IPR) and supply chain security compliance training programs for internal and external stakeholders through webinars and in-person forums. Communicate formal guidance (procedure manuals)regarding the requirements.
  • Review and revise contracts with respect to trade compliance provisions, including export control laws, license requirements, and compliance with procedures
ProfileThis EU Trade Compliance Manager role can be based in Derby, Crewe or anywhere in the Midlands (or UK for those more open to taking on additional travel), it requires:Extensive experience directly managing import/export compliance (aerospace industry experience preferred)Previous experience of working as part of a Legal function (or very closely with)Certifications in trade compliance and customs is preferredIn-depth knowledge of the Wassenaar Arrangement and related processes for determining export control classifications and exporting requirementsDemonstrates understanding of and ability to interpret the ITAR, EAR, OFAC, AEO requirements, UK Military List and EU Dual Use RegulationsJob OfferFor full information, please submit an application
