Job Description

English Teacher - DerbyTeaching Personnel are currently recruiting on the behalf of our client secondary school in the Derby area who are looking to recruit a teacher of English on a full time basis starting ASAP to work until the end of the academic year.School Ethos"Working with pupils and their parents to enable each youngsters to achieve success in all areas of life – academic, personal, physical, social;Raising standards of achievement, increasing access and widening participation in PE and Sport for everyone in ourschool, partnerschools, wider community and Derby City"- Head TeacherThe role

  • Full time position
  • Able to teach KS3 and KS4 English
  • Preparing and planning for lessons with marking required
  • Following and promoting the school curriculum and pushing for highest attainment
  • Competitive rates of pay (after 12 weeks: AWR rate,paid to the scale the school would pay at directly)
  • Key Stage 4 Assessments
  • Pupils will complete an English Language and an English Literature GCSE, both assessed by 100% examination at the end of Y11
  • Throughout Y10 pupils will study the English Literature course whilst practising English Language skills which have been integrated into schemes of work along the way
  • In Y11 pupils will study the English Language course whilst regularly revising the Literature course. This delivery allows quality revision time to refine skills and ensure pupils are thoroughly prepared for their examinations
  • In Y10 pupils will be formally assessed and levelled every term on the relevant Literature texts studied. They will also sit a Literature Paper 1 trial exam at the end of the academic year. Throughout the year levelled work will be marked regularly to assess the development of skills and identify areas that need development
  • In Y11 pupils will be formally assessed and levelled through trial exams for both Language and Literature every term. Throughout the year levelled work will be marked regularly to assess the development of skills and identify areas that need development
  • Requirements for the role
  • Must have QTS/QTLS and experience teaching to the UK National Curriculum
  • Strong behaviour management
  • Will have excellent subject knowledge and a desire to provide the best education to pupils
  • Will be required to apply for a Child Workforce DBS, if you do not already have one on the update service
