Job Description

JOB TITLE: CELLULAR PATHOLOGY SERVICE MANAGER An exciting opportunity has arisen in Derbyshire Pathology for a Cellular Pathology Service Manager. Derbyshire Pathology is a contractual joint venture between University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHSFT and Chesterfield Hospital NHSFT. Derbyshire Pathology is hosted by UHDB NHSFTAs a qualified and experienced manager with leadership experience we will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to expand and develop senior managerial and leadership responsibilities within Derbyshire Pathology. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background and have knowledge and experience in Histology, Andrology and Mortuary service provision.The position requires the candidate to be fully familiar with ISO 15189 standards, have experience of Quality Management Systems; Health & Safety requirements; training/education techniques; Financial and HR resource management.The candidate will also be expected to have experience of using transformational methodologies to drive change and improve service delivery, The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of a team with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude.These are exciting times for Derbyshire Pathology. Major projects currently underway include the implementation of a new LIMS (Clinisys) and the introduction of Digital Pathology. We are also continually looking to develop and grow our services.This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week.To be successful in this role, youll need

  • Registration with HCPC and substantial experience in a senior supervisory role
  • Ability to work both assertively and with awareness of one’s limitations; excellent telephone, face to face and written communication skills with all service users, staff and multi-professional agencies.
  • Excellent assessment skills within this field of expertise, to deliver a high quality, safe, cost effective and timely service.
  • Compassion – Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and service users, remaining sensitive and empathetic.
