Acute Kidney Injury Clinical Nurse SpecialistBand 7 (1.0 WTE x 3)Accountable to: AKI Clinical LeadResponsible to: Renal Consultant NurseThere are 4000 episodes of Acute Kidney Injury annually across the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Foundation Trust (UHDB). A third of these are severe.This is an exciting opportunity to provide and develop Acute Kidney Injury Specialist Services across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton sites, under the supervision of the Renal Team.The AKI Nurse role will be one of a clinical expert, working autonomously across different inpatient areas, providing advice and guidance to Acute Kidney Injury patients, their families, carers and other healthcare professionals. The role will also encompass outpatient follow-up of AKI patients in a dedicated AKI clinic. All clinical activities will be supported by Consultant Nephrologists.The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to identification, assessment, treatment and management of patients with AKI. They will autonomously assess patients, for example history taking, medication reviews, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and post discharge follow up care.The post holder will demonstrate clinical expertise, safe clinical decision making and specialist knowledge. They will lead on service evaluation and improvement through Clinical Audit, QI and Research in addition to supporting staff training and development.This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week.In return we will offer:
