Job Description

Job SummaryThe jobholder is responsible for assisting the Parc Adfer Management Team in the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the WtE facility, being a key member within the site maintenance team of controls & instrumentation and electro-mechanical technicians.This role involves assisting the O&M Manager in delivering all site maintenance functions, including condition based monitoring, planned and reliability centred maintenance, break-down and rectification tasks, lifecycle maintenance and works associated with outage planning and execution, on all elements of the facility which includes a waste-fired high-pressure boiler, flue gas treatment, steam turbine & generator, ash handling equipment, auxiliary balance of plant equipment, HV apparatus and a distributed control (DCS) system, to ensure high plant availability and performance within approved budgets, whilst keeping safety as the highest priority.Additionally, the role requires close liaison with the Plant operations team, as well as WTI corporate colleagues and other site staff, responsible for other elements of the site, so that the facility can function as an integrated whole and run at maximum levels of safety, compliance, availability and efficiency.The role is worked on a rotating day shift pattern that includes early and late starts, weekends and public/bank holidays, and provides shift-rota cover, including stand-by cover as required, to ensure continuous 24/7 operation of the facility.Qualifications & ExperienceOND/HNC level or above in an Engineering discipline, preferably in Controls & Instrumentation, Electrical, or other technical disciplines, ideally related to power generation.

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the power generation environment, Energy from Waste, or similar industry.
  • IOSH Managing Safely general certificate or similar safety qualification required as a minimum.
  • Professional membership with a professional body such as the IEEE, InstMC, or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of steam raising plant and power generation equipment, instrumentation & control systems, electrical design and knowledge of maintenance and repair issues.
  • Familiar with PTW, SSOW, RAMS & AP training.
  • Experience with computerised monitoring and reporting systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of IED and BSEN 14181 & 15259 CEMS compliance is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of working under CDM regulations will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of CBM, RCM and NDT techniques.
  • IT literate and competent to manage excel-based spreadsheets and produce written reports in word format.
