Job Description

Buyer - Darwen - Manufacturing - Fixed Term Contract 18 Months + end of 2022- Up to £35,000About the CompanyOur client, a leading manufacturing and engineer firm are looking to recruit a self-driven Buyer to join their team in the North West.As Buyer you will deliver Procurement and Vendor Relations services in defined areas together with Services Operations, the global sourcing team, Markets, Engineering, Quality and Business UnitsBuyer - The Rewards

Buyer - Requirements
  • Expert in procurement with more than 3 years of sourcing experience preferable also w/ overseas suppliers
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent, mechanical engineering background preferred
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) - or working towards
  • Familiar with metal processing (machining, casting, forging and fabrication) is a plus
  • Demonstrated skills at cost analysis
  • Demonstrated skills at supplier development
  • Fair knowledge of business processes
  • ERP and Normal MS Office applications.
  • Good communication and relationship management skills
  • Fluent speaker and writer in English
  • Ability to travel across the UK
  • Cost reductions and savings
  • Volume of Purchases from cost competitive countries (CCC)
  • Supplier On-time delivery, availability, quality and lead-time for named vendors
Buyer - Responsibilities
  • To carry out Services procurement process
  • Ensure that procurement will be executed by following-up Global company requirements for goods and supply in terms of quality, price and availability
  • Execute the procurement for named business segments
  • Creation of appropriate agreements and pricelist with selected vendors as deemed appropriate in co-operation of Procurement Specialist
  • Ensure implementation the usage of the selected vendors as guided
  • Follow-up the issued purchase orders for cost, delivery time and quality
  • Actively ensure that favourable price development will continue, and the company will have knowledge of true market price and companies position as a buyer within the market
  • Improving internal and external visibility of UK and EMEA procurement
  • Handle supplier invoices and supplier master data as per needed
  • Follow-up of vendors performance against set targets
  • Maintain existing and possible new vendors relations
  • Vendor training for new processes and tools as required
  • Manage corrective action process with vendors according to company Policy
  • Provide on-going support for existing parts throughout the supply process
  • Arrangement needed logistical set-ups for lean logistics flow
  • To maintain and follow assigned KPIs for purchasing
  • Ensure that set targets are met
