Trust CT3/ST4+ Doctor in General Adult/ Forensic PsychiatryBracton Centre, Bracton Lane, off Leyton Cross Road, Dartford, Kent, DA2 7AF£49,036 - £74,661 plus £2,162 London WeightingFixed Term until 3rd August 2021. Full or part time will be considered. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, formed in April 1995, is a provider of mental health services for children, adults and older adults in Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich, and a specialist provider of Forensic and Challenging Behaviour services for Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham, North Southwark, Bromley, and Learning Disability Services for Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley. The Trust also provides Community health services in Bexley and Greenwich and a wide range of health (physical and mental health) in prisons across Kent and London.We are seeking a suitable candidate with a minimum two years Psychiatry Experience in any discipline to join the Burgess Ward team based at the Bracton Centre. Hours between 24 and 40 per week are negotiable, subject to service requirements. Burgess is a 16 patient acute medium secure ward (male).The Bracton serves Bexley, Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich and in addition under new NHS Commissioning there can be out of area placements on the ward. Most of the patients originate from prison having committed serious offences, but a small proportion come with serious challenging behaviour problems and propensity to forensic.A new intensive care unit (Kelsey ward) has been developed to compliment Burgess. That is an intensive area, high dependency area for patients who may need some time off the acute ward following admission.The function of the acute ward is to assess patients, prepare them for their pathway through the criminal justice system and then for their clinical care pathway.We are the entrance point at the Bracton and liaise with pre-discharge unit with the long term rehabilitation service and low secure unit.The team has a Consultant, CT3+/ Specialty Doctor (This LAS Post) and Core Trainee in addition to a Psychologist. The team is complimented by social work, occupational therapist. The ward itself plays a very pivotal role in liaison with the local Crown Courts, which include predominantly cases at Woolwich Crown and the Central Criminal Court and local prison including the Greenwich cluster and Kent prisons.In addition to the general service requirements, the post offers a number of other opportunities to gain more experience in forensic psychiatry including:
