Job Description

The Willow Suite is a purpose built; state of the art 12 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit within Little Brook Hospital in Dartford. The Unit provides a short-term secure service for the Kent and Medway area, caring for acutely unwell patients who, due to their mental state, are unable to be treated in an open environment. Over the last 12 years the PICU Service has extended its service to provide a Psychiatric Intensive Care Liaison Service to care for patients in the least restrictive environment across Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust. The main base being in Dartford, Maidstone and Canterbury area.We are looking for a motivated individual preferably with experience in Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit to join a highly motivated team to deliver an exceptional model of Psychiatric Intensive Care Liaison Service across the Kent and Medway Area. The ideal candidate would be dynamic team worker, who is flexible and has an innovative and enthusiastic approach to providing high quality care, and are interested in developing yourself and the service. As part of the role, you would be expected to provide professional development to staff based on situations faced when dealing with incidents and assessments on the wards alongside demonstrating strong leadership qualities. You would have excellent interpersonal skills to be utilised in facilitating high quality mental health assessments and build good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You should bring with you knowledge, experience and expertise in the provision of Psychiatric Intensive Care. And demonstrate at interview that you can effectively assess and manage risk whilst formulating service user centered care interventions.If you have a genuine passion for promoting good practice and patient safe care it can be hugely rewarding and is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your careerYou will need:-* A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.* Essential experience working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.* At least 2 years working in Adult Mental Health setting/Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit/Forensic Service.* To have knowledge and experience in risk assessment and management.* To have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team* Flexibility in working hours.* Be capable of providing leadership skills.* Supervise and support other staff, including students.* Contribute to team and staff development.* Be committed to personal and professional development.* Be innovative and forward thinking.* Participate actively in relation to the current therapeutic programme.* Delivery of care within the CPA framework.We have close links with University of Greenwich and University of Canterbury, both of which support the directorate’s clear training and development objectives, which relate to individual development reviews.We can offer you:-* A full individual induction package.* Clinical/Management Supervision.* A strong commitment to professional development of all staff.* A culture which promotes change, growth and support.You will be expected to cover the Psychiatric Intensive Care Liaison Service across the three sites within the Acute Care Group.
