Business Development Assistant – Daresbury or ManchesterSalary – Competitive Salary + Excellent Holidays + Flexible Working Hours + Share Options + PensionThe ClientOur client is facilitating the transition of the $36 billion surfactant market from harmful, oilbased chemicals to biobased alternatives by working with the current market leaders to provide a collaborative production platform.The company is currently completing the build of its pilot facility launching tonne scale production of sophorolipids and work with multiple industrial partners to take the product to market. In line with this, they are fundraising to build their first ktonne scale commercial sophorolipid plant.This highly successful business is expanding its focus beyond sophorolipids and developing processes to produce additional biosurfactants in collaboration with external market facing partners.The company recently agreed its first technology license with a field leading surfactant company and received Series A VC funding, positioning them to significantly grow the business, enabling technology scale up and the application of their technology to molecules of interest in collaboration with a number of production companies, all activities in which the applicant will play a key role. Our client offer a competitive pay package and benefits to attract incredible individuals to join the family.The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing customer relationships and promoting the companies ethos of the customer comes first. This highly successful business are offering an excellent opportunity for an early career candidate wanting to make the move from technical to commercial role, ideally with a background in surfactants/chemicals/bio-surfactants.The Business Development Assistant will take responsibility for developing a new sales funnel and keeping contact with the current partners while managing incoming orders and ensuring orders are sent. This position will preferably be based in Daresbury (in the pilot plant), a role in Manchester could be considered.Role description: Internal focus for customers.Contact customers by phone and email to confirm that they have received their new price list, encourage them to place regular orders, and build up a relationship with these customers.Feedback market price information to directors and supply chain.Make frequent phone calls to prospective, new, and existing customers to introduce the company and its products and encourage engagement with the company and biosurfactants.Update the orders received/compare to budget on the spreadsheet and follow up those that have not placed orders.Ensure customer samples are sent and follow up on progress.Visit key customers from time to time.Inputting orders, amending orders, tracking date movement communication to customers, for the full customer experience.Dealing with customer complaints.Update the company website, and social media platforms with marketing content.Create and source other marketing materials.Assist in development of the marketing plan, including marketing campaigns (social media and website updates)Other tasks as required by your manager.
