To develop, maintain and protect health and safety and environmental standards in accordance within the current legislation.Client DetailsOne of the worlds largest innovators and manufacturers of quality stationery and lifestyle accessories, with operations on three continents and distributors in more than 40 countries worldwide.All brands within the group have a long term authentic heritage and in most cases are the original innovators of their founding product category.The long established aim of the business is for our brands to be representative of the highest quality and the latest ideas to be found in the market.With the capability to conceptualise, produce and export worldwide, the purpose built, one of a kind manufacturing site in produces approximately 20 million units per annum.DescriptionHealth & Safety* Prime contact for HSE for site* Continuously develop a culture that prioritises effective performance and shared ownership for Health and safety throughout the company.* Target areas for HSE improvement through the analysis of current performance, and the implementation of continuous improvement methods.Monitor for updates to H & S legislation* Write and update H & S procedures (using detail knowledge of legislation)* Chair Safety Steering Committeeo Monitor status of risk assessments. Chase up overdue.o Commission regular noise surveyso Monitor completion of actions from accident investigations.* Manage COSHH assessments* Personally investigate serious accidents.* Provide advice on H & S to any employee.* Member of site H & S committee.* Ensure Business Continuity and Incident Management plans are in place and tested* Ensure H & S audits completed and actions completed.* Commission Fire risk assessments.* Review and propose updates to Health & Safety policy.Waste management* Define segregation requirements.Quality* Audits, monitors and reviews the implementation of QA policies, working practices, procedures and standards for all respective operations.* Compile quality procedures for site.* Provides and advises on appropriate site training as required.* Co-ordinates all site audits and ensures training of onsite audit team* Drives close out of issues and non-conformance. Supports manufacturing teams in ensuring compliance and has responsibility for compliance and issue resolution relating to QA systems.* Represents the site for customers, suppliers, regulatory and accreditation bodies as required* Monitor completion of corrective/preventative actions* Conduct major quality investigations.* Review draft of annual quality review document.* Review and propose updates to Quality policy.Environment* Monitor for updates to legislation.* Review, and approve updates to aspects and impacts.* Definition and monitoring of improvement targets.* Review and propose updates to Environment and Energy policies.* Manage internal environmental audit programme* Assist with third party audits* Be accountable for the provision of accurate and timely environmental data* Communicate environmental data to internal and external stakeholders as required* Monitor and review all environmental events ensuring all incidents and near misses are correctly reported, categorised and processed, and prior to incident close-out, ensure root causes for environmental events have been determined and any remedial actionsclosed out.No direct reportsFinancial Responsibility (or Constraints): (e.g. authority to raise purchase orders etc.)N/aPrinciple points of contact - Internal: (e.g. department from which your information comes and the department to which it is next passed; key meeting contacts.)Internal: Staff at all levelsPrinciple points of contact - External: (e.g. customers, suppliers or other organisations)External: HSE, BSI and other accredited auditing authoritiesThis role definition is a statement of the main responsibilities and tasks and is not an exhaustive list. It is also without prejudice to the companys requirement that all employees work flexibly across the full range of duties for which they have beentrained or have suitable experience.ProfileCandidates will ideally hold the NEBOSH Diploma but the NEBOSH General Certificate may be considered.* NEBOSH qualification with evidence of further personal development in Health & Safety.* Previously managed the Health & Safety agenda in a prior role* Experience of managing Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage.* Excellent project planning and implementation skills and the ability be able to produce high quality written reports and information suitable* Detailed knowledge of ISO9001 standard* You will be happy working to tight deadlines and will be able to deal with changing priorities.* Your people skills will allow you to build positive professional relationship to encourage improvement in a way which engages people in the Health & Safety agenda.* Detailed knowledge of environmental management and of ISO 14001* Strong analytical and problem solving approach.* Highly effective communicator at all levels.Job OfferExcellent Salary £38K - £42K35 Hour working week Monday - Friday Hybrid 2 days home, 3 days on-site
