Job Description

Children and Families Practitioner - MidlothianHours: 36 hours per weekSalary: £16.50-£18.50 per hour payeLocation: MidlothianContract: 6 MonthsThe Social Care Community Partnership are currently recruiting for 3 full time Children and Families Practitioners on a 6 month contract basis with Midlothian Council. Midlothian Council are looking for candidates with experience working with young childrenand supporting supervised contact and PCAs as well as working to complete assessments and provide support to older children. The role purpose is to be accountable for work undertaken with children and families, which includes assessing needs, planning anddelivering focused interventions to safeguard children and developing plans to promote positive outcomes for service users.Key responsibilities:

  • Work with families and carers, undertake non-statutory assessments and observations and gather information from children, families, carers and other agencies. Analyse, summarise and evaluate this information to provide a holistic assessment of a childsand his/her familys needs in line with service policies.
  • Co-ordinate, facilitate and supervise contact for children and family members.
  • Contribute to the provision of group work including parenting programmes.
  • Build positive, co-operative working relationships with service users, colleagues and partner agencies. Collaborate with other agencies on project and service developments to promote positive outcomes for children and their families.
  • Deliver high quality practice on cases as directed by your line manager and in line with the principles of getting it right for every child and the SSSC Codes of Practice.
Qualifications and experience:Experience working within Children and Families.HNC social care and SVQ 3 in Health and Social Care children and young people or equivalentMust be a member of the PVG Scheme (you can apply for a PVG through The Social Care Community Partnership).National and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post.
