We’re looking for more people to join our hospital cleaning teams, to help us provide a spotless environment for patients. Due to the COVID pandemic hospital cleaning is more important than ever.Being a cleaner in our hospitals is a special job. Our cleaners are key members of ward teams, working together with clinical staff to support the wellbeing of patients while they are in hospital. This is because a sparkling clean environment not only makes a hospital stay more pleasant - it also helps keep infections such as COVID at bay.Cleaning in a hospital requires skills over and above a typical cleaning job, so we will provide free specialist training to give you that extra knowledge. As you are aware, wearing a facemask in public has become the norm but when you work in a hospital specialised clothing is provided to keep you safe, examples include facemasks, aprons and gloves. This is known as PPE (personal protective clothing), and wherever you work, you will be provided with the right protection for that area. All front line staff working within the NHS will also receive the COVID vaccination. We have opportunities available in Morriston, Singleton, Neath, Cefn Coed, Cimla, Tonna and Gorseinon hospitals and our clinics in the community. You can also work on more than one site if you do not mind travelling. Both fixed term and bank contracts are available. A brief guide to the differences between each contract is available in the attached document, showing the advantages and disadvantages of each to help you determine which best suits your circumstances.Fixed Term contracts will be 25 hours per week and bank hours will be varied according to the needs of the service. Hours will be worked in shifts over mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights including Saturdays and Sundays. Candidates will be asked for their order of preference at interview. We cannot guarantee that everyone will be offered their chosen contract type, however, we will try to accommodate you wherever possible. The pay (from 1st April 2020) is £9.21 per hour, with enhanced hourly rates for evening and weekend shifts. To give your application the best chance of being shortlisted, please use the Supporting Information section to demonstrate how you meet the criteria listed in the Person Specification attached to this advert.Once the advert closes, shortlisting will take place. If your application is successful you will be invited to book an online (or telephone) interview. During the interview the options that will be discussed with you will include the type of contract, hours and site where you would like to work. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. We look forward to receiving your application! For further details / informal visits contact:Craig WilliamsDeputy Catering ManagerCraig.williams@wales.nhs.ukor
