This is a substantive Consultant Vascular Surgeon post joining a compliment of nine consultants responsible for the provision of vascular surgical services to the South West Wales Vascular Network.The appointee will take part in a 1:9 on-call rota, which covers the population of Swansea Bay University Health Board, Hywel Dda Health Board and Cwm Taf Health Board (catchment population served by the Princess of Wales Hospital).All emergency and major elective arterial work for the network takes place at the designated arterial hub of Morriston Hospital. On rare occasions the on call surgeon may be required to travel to a spoke hospital for an on-site vascular emergency if the patient is deemed not fit to travel and vascular surgery is considered essential.Outpatient clinics for this post occur across South West Wales at the spoke hospitals, served by the network.We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales, especially in the areas of research and development and multi-professional teaching.Consultants in the LHB benefit from a flexible approach to working practises.
