Job Description

Focused Recruitment are currently seeking a shift manager to join our clients global manufacturing site in the Cwmbran area.Overview:A key role in managing the efficient and effective operation of the shift. The Shift Manager will champion all continuous improvement activity on the shift and be responsible for safe and legal operation of the department. There will also be budget controlrequirements in specified areas.Principal Accountabilities:

  • Control and review of all manpower requirements.
  • Control of budgets for overtime, consumable stores and tooling, and others as designated by the Production Manager.
  • Discipline and grievance handling up to and including level 4 dismissal.
  • Introduce and maintain succession plan for all positions within the department/shift.
  • Ensure training and development activity takes place for all employees within area of responsibility.
  • Undertake appraisals and performance management process for all staff employees within area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal obligations (particularly Health, Safety, Environment).
  • Ensure continuous working throughout the shift to ensure maximum efficiency & quality.
  • Evaluate and update manufacturing costs.
  • Ensure workplace organisation is driven through standardised 5s principles.
Education/ Experience:
  • Minimum five years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Apprenticeship or HNC/equivalent
  • Have understanding of problem solving techniques
  • Experience of plant operation
  • Previous supervisory/shift managment experience
  • Experience of ISO and QS systems
  • Computer literate
  • Able to produce reports and undertake presentations to Senior Managers
  • Able to undertake risk assessments
  • Budget management and good business acumen
  • Cross functional experience
  • Commits to continuous improvement
  • Good communication and presentation skills
