Job Description

Job Title: Metallurgical Laboratory TechnicianSector: Aerospace, Manufacturing & EngineeringSalary: £30,359.25 p.a including Shift Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UKContract: Full-time, Mornings & Afternoons, PermanentAre you an experienced Metallurgist Technician in with a passion for aerospace and automotive engineeringVerus Recruitment Partners are pleased to be supporting a South Yorkshire based leading international aerospace & automotive manufacturer in the recruitment of an experienced Metallurgist Technician on a full-time, permanent basis due to continued growth andprojects.As my clients Metallurgist Technician, you would be responsible for carrying out metallurgical testing on materials such as stainless steels, titanium and nickel alloys. Testing will include metallography, hardness testing and elemental analysis by inert gasfusion. (And apply!)Duties and responsibilities:* Carry out metallurgical analysis to schedule, using defined methods to produce reliable results. The specific testing required will be: -Alpha Case analysis by microscopy-Metallographic testing of laser cut surfaces-Hardness testing (Vickers, Rockwell)-Hydrogen testing by inert gas fusion* Ensure accurate records are maintained and traceable to production records.* Complete routine and daily equipment checks including cleanliness, maintenance, and and internal calibration* Provide support during audits, ensuring that your area is prepared for the audit and any actions are responded to appropriately.* Complete metallurgical investigations as required to support non-conformance investigations or new product introductions* Work closely with other areas of the business (eg. Operations Management, Quality, Special Processes) to ensure manufacturing workflow and that issues are communicated.About You:* Minimum 5 years experience carrying out metallurgical testing on titanium, nickel alloys and stainless steel.* Experience carrying out Vickers and/or Rockwell hardness testing* Ability to carry out metallographic, hardness and hydrogen testing.* Ability to maintain accurate records* Ability to use both classic metallurgy instruments and computer/software assisted equipment (eg.
