Job Description

Job Title: VOIP/Telco EngineerLocation: Croydon - Work from HomeJob type: PermanentSalary: £50,000 - £70,000Key Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, maintain and support of the high availability, performance and security of the VoIP network systems that include Routers, Firewalls, Switches, SBCs, SIP servers, PBX platforms and WebRTC gateways
  • Implement call routing components as needed and defined by business
  • Interact with other departments to execute project tasks including progress tracking with minimal oversight to deliver network projects in a timely manner to the business
  • Prioritize and resolve trouble/request tickets including immediate escalation urgent issue resolution
  • Analyze and evaluate network performance and provide solutions to optimize traffic flows, security, and processes
  • Analyze network capacity issues and develop capacity planning models
  • RequirementsSkills
  • 5+ years of hands on VoIP Network Engineering experience and/or a Degree in Information Systems
  • 5+ years of proven record of troubleshooting, operating and improving: Complex national large enterprise high-availability VoIP networks / Large regional, national, or international carrier-grade SIP VoIP networks
  • A thorough understanding and hands-on working knowledge of carrier-grade VoIP infrastructure, specifically SBC clusters (such as Metaswitch, Audiocodes, Sonus/Ribbon), PBX solutions (such as Asterisk or FreeSwitch), SIP servers (OpenSIPS, Kamailio) and end-point devices (Yealink, WebRTC clients, SIP Trunks)
  • Able to understand and analyse PCAP traces to solve complex SIP VoIP and IP internet-working challenges
  • Hands-on working knowledge of routers, switches and linux-based servers
  • Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of security, switching, and routing technologies with a focus on FreeSwitch as a call routing platform
  • Knowledge of technologies and protocols used within PSTN (Public Switched Telephony Network) - such as SIP, SIP-I, TDM, SS7, ISDN, E1, T1, G711, G722, AMR, WebRTC etc.
  • Knowledge of common risks in the PSTN - such as robocalling, voice frauds, capacity usage abuse, CLI spoofing etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) environment, its capabilities and technical limits; ideally in the multinational scale
  • Understanding of telephony solutions hosted in the Cloud Environment
  • Degree in Information Systems or related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with call centres solutions is preferred.
