Social Workers - National Age Assessment BoardCardiff, Croydon, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Sheffield, SolihullNational: £30, 817 - £33,889; London: £35,054 - £38, 558Join a flagship new service solving one of todays mostcompelling issues. If youre a qualified social worker, this is unique opportunity to give asylum seekers the support they need to resettle and integrate in society.RASI was established in January 2017 to work closely with Migration and Border colleagues andothers across the Home Office and elsewhere. With over 700 people, it handles the dispersal and support of adult asylum seekers, asylum seeking families and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) through the National Transfer Scheme, as well as the operationaldelivery and policy development of the UKs resettlement and integration offer for refugees. These 40 new roles sit within our National Age Assessment Board (NAAB). The team will assess individuals claiming to be a UASC or child dependent of an asylum seekerwhere there is doubt around their age.In essence, the challenge will be to conduct age assessments when invited by local authorities to do so and when requested to do so by other Home Office colleagues. Everything is built on a child-centred and trauma-informedapproach. All the age assessments will be Merton compliant, underpinned by a statutory right of appeal.A qualified and registered social worker, its important that you enjoy working with service users from different backgrounds. Youll have a strong backgroundin age assessments too - in particular working knowledge of ADCS guidance and case law - and have the confidence to contribute to legal challenges and give evidence in court. The work involves close collaboration with a range of social work staff across differentgrades in local authorities, as well as teachers, foster carers and other professionals. So its vital that you can build strong ties, and have the flexibility to travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays. This is a dynamic and fast-moving new areaof the Home Office, with significant ministerial, stakeholder, media and public interest. Equally, its your chance to make a difference in the lives of some of the worlds most vulnerable people. To apply, please visit our websitePlease click the ApplyClosingdate: 11.55pm Friday 17 June 2022.
