Job Description

Job SummaryAECOMs Transportation Department has a vacancy for a Senior Civil & Structural CAD/BIM Technician to work in the Rail Sector. The CAD & BIM team in AECOMs Croydon office has been expanded following several successful project wins.In addition to having experience with industry-standard CAD/BIM applications, the successful candidate will also have a proven track record of delivering quality, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a project team,developing a range of Rail and Bridge engineering schemes from initial concept through to detailed design and implementation. Design models will be modelled in a BIM environment utilising Bentley CAD applications and cloud platforms. An understanding of Autodeskapplications would be beneficial, but not a requirement. This position would best suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career within a dynamic company. AECOM employees have the opportunity to learn and develop their software skills bytaking advantage of our technology partners training and learning programs.Located in the heart of Croydon, our office has excellent transport links and houses a multidisciplinary transport design centre. The modern office is equipped to facilitate flexible working; the successful candidate will be given a laptop and software to facilitatethe kind of flexibility we encourage. Croydon will be the main location for this role, but it will also require travel to support other AECOM offices. Some travel will be required to these offices from time to time.Projects:Our current office workload has a notable range of rail projects, which include large multidisciplinary projects (HS2, Network Rail) as well as supporting other major projects within AECOM. We are also radically involved in rail renewals, as the designers,within the South Rail Systems Alliance.Role Accountabilities:

  • Provide CAD/BIM support and mentoring to apprentice and junior technicians.
  • Maintain an overview of developments in CAD/BIM technologies, relevant BIM standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Able to work independently and manage a multi disciplined team within any project type.
  • Implementation and guidance of client, company, and project CAD standards to team members as well as CAD quality assurance checks.
  • Training and mentoring of junior staff to develop skills within Bentley CAD applications for the implementation of schema design, parametric, dynamic cuts, and model management through use of Bentley software.
  • Knowledge and experience working within a Bentley ProjectWise CDE, with an understanding of workflows, and user permissions.
  • Provide support and guidance in design drawing, good practices.
  • Comply with the Companys Health and Safety Policy and increase own awareness of Health and Safety procedures. Awareness and understanding of AECOMs core Vision and Values.
Project Accountabilities:
  • Supported by the Project Information Manager, assist in initial project CAD/BIM set-ups including using project CAD/BIM protocols and standards.
  • Supported by the Project Information Manager, liaise with sponsors, third parties, internal and external design teams regarding CAD and BIM matters as appropriate
  • Liaise and support our global design teams on project CAD and BIM matters as appropriate.
  • Initiating and continuing to completion any size project, both independently and with support from the Project Information Manager on larger projects.
  • An awareness of BS1192/PAS1192 and BS EN ISO 19650 relevant standards and guidance associated with delivering in a collaborative BIM environment.
  • Produce 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure, using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley.
  • Attend and drive BIM software in design coordination and design review project team meetings.
  • Manage federated models and future development of iTwin through connected environments.
  • Implementation and creation of TIDPs for model management and deliverables.
  • Responsible for checking of models, details, schedules, and quality expectations through CADQA compliance.
  • Maintain CAD/BIM software on the project.
  • Prepare RC and steelwork details as required.
  • Manage Project CAD/BIM Technicians on projects. <span style="font-si
