Job Description

Are you a looking to further your career in Childcare, within a managerial roleWith 3 different sites in and around the Croydon area, there is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the small and friendly nurseries as a Nursery Manager based in South Croydon.They are looking for a professional Qualified Nursery Manager with strong management experience who is responsible for the overall day to day management of the nursery.You will hold a full and relevant qualification in Early Years at Level 3 or above, understand and ensure the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted are met and have experience working in a busy nursery setting in a management position.Nursery Manager Duties will include, but limited too:

  • They will develop and motivate their staff team, ensuring a high standard of childcare practice throughout the nursery and excellent level of customer service to parents.
  • Responsible for establishing and developing operational procedures, help recruit and train staff and work to ensure the commercial success and long term sustainability of the venture.
  • To be responsible for the overall management, planning and development of the Nursery
  • To devise, communicate and regularly review policies and procedures ensuring high standards of care and education, fulfilling the requirements of Ofsted
  • To create a welcoming environment which provides for the well-being of all the children attending the nursery
  • To be responsible for people management - including recruitment, induction, performance reviews, disciplinary process, grievances and managing absence
  • To lead, motivate and develop the staff team
  • To identify training requirements for all team members. To produce and ensure the delivery of the nursery training plan. To evaluate the effectiveness of all training carried out within the workplace
  • To be responsible for the efficient financial management of the nursery, ensuring that it is a commercial success
  • To be responsible for the handling of monies connected with the nursery and also to timely follow up late payments.
  • To ensure the proper maintenance and security of the building, equipment, fixtures and fittings and nursery grounds
  • To communicate effectively with all customers, including internal teams, parents/carers, children and external agencies
  • To attend training courses and network meetings and to take on additional responsibilities relating to the operation of the organisation, where required
  • To ensure that relevant office work and records are completed to the required deadlines
  • To take overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and for appointing an appropriate designated person, ensuring that they have access to the relevant training
  • To be successful within this post, the suitable candidate will have the following:
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience, working in a Preschool /Nursery setting, ideally already in a senior practitioner or room leader role.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
  • Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
  • Empathy and understanding of children under five.
  • Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records and effective team leadership.
